Negan (and Lucille) from Walking Dead are coming to Tekken 7

Negan and Lucille prepare to enter the Iron Fist tournament

Tekken 7 is getting an unlikely new guest character in the form of baseball bat-wielding Negan, but so far there’s no sign of any walkers.

Fighting games often like to shake up their line-up of characters with a few unexpected guest stars, but the new one for Tekken 7 is one of the most random in recent memory.

Despite Tekken being largely concerned only with non-weapon based martial arts Negan from Walking Dead is being added as free DLC this autumn.

For those that don’t watch the show he’s most famous for using a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, which he calls Lucillle – after his wife.

The announcement was made at the Evo 2018 fighting game tournament at the weekend, alongside a bunch of other fighting game reveals for the likes of SoulCalibur VI and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Tekken 7 has already had more guest characters than normal for the series, including Akuma from Street Fighter, Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, and Noctis from Final Fantasy XV.

Negan will be added as part of a new wave of paid-for DLC that also includes series regulars Anna Williams and Lei Wulong.

It’s not clear whether TV actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be providing any new voiceovers, in fact all there really is to go on is the trailer above and this bit of marketing blurb:

‘Your eyes do not deceive you, your pounding heart does not betray you; Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead is making his way into Tekken 7 to deal a world of pain in the Tekken universe. Negan, beloved by fans of The Walking Dead for his charismatic yet sinister demeanour, is ready to destroy all challengers, regardless of their stature in the Tekken universe.’
